Going on an American Road trip is the perfect getaway for friends and family alike. It makes no difference whether you are traveling to a concert in New York, a football game in California, or an Oktoberfest Vacation in Tennessee. Road trips are full of adventure, memories, and plenty of photo opportunities. However, it does require ample planning and preparation.
The most important factor is of course funds for plenty of fuel, food, and lodging. Also, obviously the time of year plays a factor in planning your road trip, with weather, cost of lodging due to holiday’s, etc.
Planning a road trip during the autumn months usually has the best advantages. The weather is cooler during the fall season but not uncomfortable. There are so many options of where to travel and which sites to see. Your favorite football team may just be playing a town away or even a major concert may be states away. The further the road trip, the more enticing it is to plan.
During the month of October, you can trick or treat in a village far away or take a great trip into Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They host an event called; “Oktoberfest” Most people think Oktoberfest only exists in Germany, but Tennessee hosts an awesome event that makes a great Oktoberfest vacation. This is why road trips rule the vacation spectrum.
There are so many local events to check out and experience without having to deal with the passport and security check hassle from an airport. The event lasts an entire month, similar to the traditional German party running from September 30th straight through to October 30th. The festival is open every day delivering on their promises of plenty of food and mugs of beer. So, picking any week or weekend for this road trip is convenient for those with busy work schedules.
Taking a road trip in the months of autumn has some other advantages. Kids usually in school during this time, so finding a babysitter is much easier and you can rest assured your kids are safe in school while you travel. Also, the breath-taking views this time of year with the beautiful foliage that creates bright oranges, yellows, reds, and purples along tree lines and roadways that sometimes look like a work of art are definitely a sight to see.
Road trips are a great way to bond with friends or family. They create long-lasting memories that will bring everyone involved closer and it is much more exciting that traveling by air because of all the things you can do along the way.
